Enclosure No.3.

British Consulate,

Nagasaki.

October 18th 1926.

Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt

of your letter of the 25th instant (ult.?) on the subject of Hayashi and Co., of Nagasaki. This firm must be indentical with Hayashi Kane Shoten, whose head office is at Shimonoseki with a branch here as Hayashi & Co.,

of Nagasaki is unknown.

If I am correct Hayashi Kane are well

known in the Japanese fishing industry. The paid up capital of the firm is Yen 7,500,000 with a reserve fund of Yen 351,000. At the time of writing the local representative is away but when he returns I will obtain from him full particulars of both their trawler

fleet and motor fishing boat fleet.

I have, etc.,

(Sd.) H. Paske-Smith,

Consul.

The Colonial Secretary,

Hong Kong.
